They created new rules for the content creators. If you are using AI tools to create YouTube videos, then soon a new feature will be added under the channel to make it visible for the viewers.

YouTube wants to inform users about AI videos

YouTube unveiled a mandate for content creators to clearly inform their audience when their uploads include AI-generated imagery that mimics reality, as declared on Monday. This innovative step is integrated within the Creator Studio, introducing an obligatory feature for creators to highlight instances where AI has been utilized to craft content that could potentially be mistaken for genuine people, locations, or events. This includes the use of altered or artificially synthesized media through advanced generative AI technologies.

Viewers are under the threat of mislead

This initiative is designed to shield viewers from being misled by videos produced using sophisticated AI, which blur the lines between authentic and fabricated content. The urgency of this development is underscored by warnings from technology specialists, who caution that AI and DeepFake technologies represent a significant challenge, especially in the context of the impending U.S. presidential election. This announcement follows YouTube's previous statement in November about its plan to implement this update as part of a broader introduction of new AI-related guidelines.

Under this policy, YouTube clarifies that it is not necessary for creators to label content that is unmistakably fantastical or animated, for example, imagery of an individual journeying on a unicorn in an imaginary realm. Similarly, the policy exempts content where generative AI has been employed for behind-the-scenes support, such as in scriptwriting or generating automatic subtitles.
