It’s the most significant video engine around the globe. Just like Google, YouTube is dominating the ‘engine’ industry. In this case, YouTube is the engine of videos where you can find everything literally. 

Music streaming is very popular on YouTube. As mentioned in 2020s’ statistics, YouTube music stream platform has a 46% market share. So, SoundCloud and Spotify combined can’t even come close to YouTube’s statistics. In general, YouTube is not about music, but the last few years has shown the opposite. Now YouTube is dominating the music streaming industry, so you can’t miss this chance if you are a musician. 

Build the channel at first

If you want to achieve success on YouTube, don’t forget about the basics. Creating a perfect channel is an essential part of YouTube marketing. Upload the latest track and let the YouTube community listen to it for free. You can give them a chance to use it for their videos. Don’t forget to add a wonderful and attractive background image. The header (background) image is a vital part. When random YouTube users visit your channel, they see the header image first. Upload the latest tracks in the playlists. YouTube gives every musician a chance to create playlists and add particular tracks (music videos) in different playlists. For instance, you can create playlists with varying album names and make sure that fans find your tracks easily. At the same time, you can differentiate the playlist with the genres, year of the production, etc. Popular American band “Karmin” is one of the pioneers in YouTube streaming. Visit Karmin’s YouTube channel. You’ll see that they followed the basics of YouTube (right header image, playlists with different purposes, etc.) (check the image below - you see that Karmin has many videos on YouTube). 

Challenges, medleys, etc. - create content for the fans.

Artists that already made big (Beyonce, Lopez, Ciara, etc.) have official YouTube channels. They don’t make content for the fans, because they already made it big with different platforms.  If you are starting on YouTube, you have created content for YouTube fans. Keep in mind that Beyonce was creating content (for instance starring in local shows) for MTV and other music channels back in 20-25 years ago. In 2021, the situation is different - any musician can achieve big success with online platforms like YouTube. If you stick with YouTube, then create content for YouTube users. Let’s take a real-life example from the girl-band Cimorelli. They started YouTube back in 2010 and got their fame worldwide. They have millions of fans worldwide and have been touring for a few years. If you visit their YouTube channel, it’s visible that they are loyal to YouTube fans and create content for them. You see that Cimorelli still makes different types of videos (Q&A, medleys, covers, song requests, talk about private life, etc.) and fans are happy with it.
